JOB TITLE: Pharmacy Clerk
DEPARTMENT: Pharmacy
REPORTS TO: Pharmacist-in-Charge
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The role of the pharmacy clerk is to provide ongoing operational support during the work hours of the agency’s Pharmacy Department. Clerks assist to maintain the pharmacy in accordance with state regulations for pharmacy operations in the community clinic setting.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES:
1. Maintains all medications by manufacturer’s recommendation for temperature, and light requirements.
2. Maintains internal control records for the pharmacy including master drug log, daily drug dispensing log, monthly expiration logs, and unit dose logs.
3. Supports the Pharmacist to maintain pharmaceutical inventory for pharmacy.
4. Supports FHCCGLA clinicians to observe and maintain pharmaceutical regulations for dispensing and documentation of drugs dispensed.
5. Unpacks, restocks under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist.
6. Provides appropriate labeling, packaging supplies, and appropriate pharmaceutical identification.
7. Maintains the cleanliness of the pharmacy, especially its dispensing and drug preparation areas.
8. Maintains pharmacy records in an orderly fashion, using both manual and computer software programs.
9. To coordinate and facilitate the pharmaceutical patients assistance program linking qualified clients to indigent care programs through the various pharmaceutical companies.
10. Identify new companies offering pharmaceuticals patient assistance programs, integrating them into our current system.
11. Work with clinicians to identify and qualify patients for pharmaceuticals assistance programs.
12. Responsible for ensuring all forms are correctly completed, including physician signatures, all required documentation is present and renewals are sent in a timely manner.
13. Responsible for tracking and logging patient medication when it arrives from the pharmaceutical companies.
14. Prepare reports for the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operations Officer and Chief Finance Officer as appropriate.
15. Call patients to pick up medications and S.O.A.P.
16. Organize prescriptions.
17. Assist in stocking or restocking medications when necessary.
18. Stock vials, bottles, and other equipment necessary to assure patient flow.
19. All other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma required (or GED equivalent).
2. Requires organizational skills.
3. Computer literate.
4. Ability to speak Spanish a must.
5. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written skills.
6. Ability to speak publicly a must.
7. Strong interpersonal skills.
8. Ability to take initiative in performing and completing tasks.
9. Ability to prioritize workload and work under pressure of deadlines.
10. Willingness to adapt to changes in clinic schedules, agency growth and expansion.
11. Ability to function self-sufficiently, requiring little supervision.
